When you have the trouble you describe it is usually due to power not getting to one side of the lights. That is what causes the high beam indicator to glow dimly. Power isn't flowing like it should and the left side isn't working due to that. You are going to need a test light to verify power is getting to the fuses and the lights. Somewhere, power isn't getting to where it is supposed to.
