I don't believe they are any stronger. However with the slightly shorter gearing compared to the WRX, it puts less strain on them. You need to change over the clutch setup to the NA tranny stuff, and change slave cylinder, and matching rear diff. The NEWEST you can put on with the speed sensor is an '04 Outback. '05+ run off the ABS sensors for vehicle speed, but you can still have it done.
