I know they are smaller, but they would still work with the 2 pot rears if he used the 06-07 WRX backing plate I am just thinking here). I don't think there is any differance in the Brembo rear, vs the Subaru 2 pot as far as the actual caliper is concerned. Yes, the rotors would be smaller than the STi rotor, but they would fine and his Ebrake would be OK IIRC.

I mean the way you use a larger rotor is raise the caliper. If the 2 calipers are the same, and uses the WRX backing plate it would put the Brembo in the same spot as the Subaru 2 pot. This should allow the use of the Brembo with the smaller rotor.
