It isn't the people.
It is the regulations.
The Audi/VW diesels sell somewhat well, from what I hear. but what other options are there?
It is hard to declare something a failure when it isn't an option and barely a choice given.
It isn't a failure of a free market system, when the market isn't allowed to be free.
Plus, the people have been burned by bad diesels before. Like GM converting gas engines to diesel, and then selling them to the public in the 1980s. Didn't work so well. Some folks remember that.
