Well, the R1's aren't "slicks" either. Just a little stickier r-comp track tire.

The NT-01 is stickier than both the 070 and 01r. The difference felt between the R1 and the NT01, while measurable, is night and day by any means.

I can't think of any reason to go with the R1s, except for wanting to know what they feel like after you've been on the 01s.
