Over the course of three days I read this entire frigging thread. My head hurts and Im annoyed that PT isnt doing that no more but it was too good to be true.
My 02 with 153,000 needs a new turbo because the seals are bad...I'm getting less than 15mpg which is the main reason I need to get a replacement ASAP and I was hoping the 19T was going to be the route I should go on this mileage engine.
Now I need to look back into VF39/43, and 16Gs...or I may go with a stock turbo, or maybe one of these blouch 19Ts...UGH this is a PITA haha
You shouldn't feel too bad. PT didn't do anything magical. If you liked the TD04/19t numbers, get Blouch to modify one. They will even do the turbine upgrade if you choose.
You can also tune down with the bigger turbos and still get a power band that doesn't fall off above the 6000rpm range if you are worried about the engine. I don't think any of those listed are going to overstress the engine significantly. UTEC + remote map switch is what I have so I can have a fun tune but keep things conservative for everday driving.
