That is a novel idea, though I suspect that it would be cheaper, easier to make (if one chose to make it themselves), and less invasive to just have a regular brace. Remember, you can remove the center section from the mounting plates with a regular tower brace, and it wouldn't weigh as much as what you're talking about.

To be perfectly honest, having given it some thought, the rear end on a pickup is so light that I suspect you would lose rear end grip long before being subject to the sort of loads in which a rear strut tower brace would be particularly effective at handling
