To make a DIY heat shield you'll need: aluminum sheetmetal from Home Depot, a good metal drill bit, a power drill, tin shears, something to bend and crease over (angle iron, 4x4 wood post on a saw horse, etc.), and plenty of washers.

I think Koji made one before. You'll have to search in the Interior & Exterior section.
