So I'm in the middle of installing a STi 6 speed into my RS. The motor is in the car, so we're putting it in from underneath. At this point though it doesn't want to fit.
We can't get it high enough to be able to attach it to the lower dowels coming from the motor. Right now if we raise it up with the input shaft just barely tounching, but not clearing the clutch bearing, it hits the top of the tunnel.
Anybody have any pointers?
The next thing we're going try is unbolt the engine crossmember and lower it slightly, trying to make the angle work better.
Bear in mind this is a full shop with transmission jacks and such. Not a driveway-car-on-jackstands install.
I've searched on here IWSTI and RS25 and haven't come up with anything.
