Update: Looks like I'll be cutting into the OEM cable after all. The only place I can find to order these connectors has a minimum order of 65 units at $3.18 each

(And that's just for the female side. The plug itself is made up of 4 components it seems!) Oh well, at least now I know the color code and can solder a connection so I can re-use the stock USB port.
