I took delivery this week on a 2011 WRX. It has daytime running lights. As I did with my '02 WRX wagon, I disconnected the wire to the hand brake switch and grounded it. This turns off the daytime lights all the time, not just when the handbrake is engaged. Apparently, this maneuver has also disabled the hill start assist as well. Which is just fine with me. I've looked around and have found no other work around, save having a STI where Subaru offers it with the car. Just tried it a couple of times, but it seems to work. Am interested to hear from others to see if this is real. Maybe I'm hallucinating. Downside is handbrake light is always on when car is running. Had the same thing on my other car.
