I don't know about the AP-SUB-003, but on the -002, it is a standard USB to 5-pin cable:

When hooking your AP up to your computer, you plug the 5-pin into the AP and the USB end into the computer. When hooking the AP up to your car, you plug the 5-pin into the OBDII and the USB into the AP.

Like I said, I don't know what's up with the -003, but that is why you are seeing so many USB to 5-pin cables in this thread. That it how it is supposed to work.
