It is a neat car. And all cars are compromises. They(Toyota and Subaru) were going for low CG and light weight in a street legal car; they achieved that. AWD was a casualty of the quest for lightness. The handling dynamics are probably great, no doubt better than a WRX/STI.
But, very mediocre power in an enthusiast's car like this seems like a mistake. Hopefully the next version will have an extra 80hp or so. That would be a fun ride.
There is going to be an STi version of this car. I'm not sure why we are complaining about power, it's like comparing the WRX to the STi. The BRZ base and BRZ STi I'm sure will have a significant difference.
We also have yet to see the brand new WRX and STi that may have the new motor. I would be excited for that, but I'm not paying $38-40,000.00 for an STi.
