Why get HID highs? you install the high wire so your projectors act as hi/low? your HIDs will take some time to warm up so kinda useless for highbeams unless you drive with them all the time. I wouldnt do HID fogs either... so much heat in such a small housing with no ventilation... you're asking for the housing to burn/melt... my $0.02
I have this kit installed... I no longer "flash to pass" unless my lights happen to be on, because as you say, it's not good for the ballasts. Its not a big deal IMO.
Someone asked if they tried putting yellow high beam bulbs in. I did this because I thought it'd look 'cooler' when the DRLs are on and also provide a different color at night with the xenons unleashed. It is much brighter when the highs are fully on compared to the stock high beams. I'm glad I did it. One caveat, during the day, with everything off, the yellow bulbs reflect off the shiny reflective headlight housing so from the outside it looks like the high beam portion of the headlight has a yellow tint to it. No biggie, looks a bit strange tho
