To get truly great MPGs not only do you have to get used to being annoyed, but being annoying. Things like slowing down far in advance of a red light to avoid stopping, accelerating at round 2k rpm, those are the things that will get us over the epa estimates. You have to start approaching it like a game between you and the car, that'll get rid of some of the annoyance.
It is also winter and yes, we all have pretty much new cars. Give it at least until the summer to see if anyone starts getting good numbers.
