The IC, which should be remedied easily, has at least two holes in it.
Also, he said the engine had about 30k miles on it. No freakin' way. My engine, at 240k, looks brand new compared to this one. It's got at least three separate oil leaks, power steering leak and every air hose is rock solid, they will all need to be replaced.
It's heavily oxidized and looks like its been sitting in a barn for the last four years. I imagine most of the exposed seals will be toast as well.
Also, all of the timing covers are broken, every one of them has at least one crack. Some have gaping holes in the.
Can these be replaced without taking off the cam sprockets? Looks like the rear covers require their removal. And from what I've read, that is not any easy task.
Is this typical condition for these engines ? Am I being too critical?
Also, since it is a spec C, what do I have over a regular version 8? I can't seem to find much on the v8 spec c, v7 lots of info.
I am really disappointed with the condition of the engine, I was expecting something like they show on their web page.
I will most likely ship it back, at my dime I assume, and go with a different vendor.
The guy I dealt with was absolutely impossible to communicate with.
I was told the easiest way to "date" a motor was by the writing on the timing belt.
If its still mostly legibly 30k miles
If its legible but hard to read 60k
If the writing is barely there 90k
If its gone 120k plus.
Oh, and I would go with an ebay auction, where they actually show the motor. One of them was out of Canada and Had a branch in Richmond VA. Spoke English, nice to deal with.
These were the guys.
