yup. pretty much what you said. in any winter conditions, with appropriate tires if you SLOW DOWN, take your time, leave yourself room to stop, don't follow close, etc...

but at the same time i won't let anyone scare me with "winter driving" as it's quite easy to do if you follow the above rules. more than that take a winter driving/safety course. learn how to properly control your car in emergency situations. it's a very valuable tool. one that you might not always need, but the experience is priceless. Most people, when they find themselves in a panic situation they just stomp the brakes, lock their arms and wait til they hit something. More than not, that is not the way to react in an emergency situation, winter or not.
