I have researched this issue at GREAT LENGTH and I am convinced that using the WRONG OIL is responsible for the vast majority of these engine failures.
I know we don't agree on how big of a deal oil weights are. I know at Ford, they go through a LOT of work comparing oil weights and contents, and I assume Subaru does the same. So if it's recommended from the factory, it should have passed the test.
