Having emergency parts is always wise, as is the case with anyone serious about vehicle modifications. For long road trips, I always carry a few straight unions and extra air line, but again this is strictly for emergency purposes.
With a proper install, you have absolutely nothing to worry about. There are plenty of completely OEM cars with air ride, even luxury power cars such as Lamborghini's! Air Ride is common in ambulances, buses and eighteen wheel trucks, so that should give you a general idea on the safety of air ride. Again, I'll reiterate, with a proper install (no bag or air line rubbing, and properly routed air line) there is no reason to expect a failure of any sort. I've been on air for well over a year now and have NEVER had an issue. As with any mods you do to your car, it's always good to do routine maintenance and checks just to make sure nothing has shifted from it's original position since the install.
