I've never tried it, but some Prius owners have used a block heater to improve mileage. It won't keep the engine at operating temperature, but I would expect it to shorten the warmup time.
In the end, though, it might not save any money... if you try it, do the math to make sure the improved mileage isn't offset by the electricity costs. Also, put the block heater on a timer - unless you're some place where you actually need the block heater to start the engine, you aren't going to need it heating all night, just an hour or two before you plan to leave. (Or maybe longer, you'll have to experiment...)
