Yeah, it just works how the engineer's and marketing people decided it should work... Not necessarily how you decided it should work.
IMHO (as a mech engineer) for the CVT equiped cars it wouldn't be all that difficult for someone to engineer/design some sort of controller box that would allow the user to adjust that center lock up. Either it's on/off or 0-5v signal or something like that. Would just have to do some work to figure out what kinds of signals that the electronic clutch can receive.
But that won't change the VDC issue... That is purely software related, but again once the code gets cracked and is tuneable it can probably just be set within the computer. It all just depends on the demand and if its worth "mass producing" electronic gadgets that fix this. (OR a dedicated and skilled group of DYI folks who engineer and open source fix).
