The reviews of the shop must not be very good and technically if they charged you that and didn't fix the problem you don't have to pay it according to a certain law
I didn't pay it. I ended up paying for a diagnostic and AC recharge, but the total repair bill was going to be around 6K, that's just part of the issues.
I've decided to fix everything they have listed on their estimate sheet by myself. We were going to just junk the car and buy something else, but I decided that if we can't get an STI(which we can't afford at the moment considering we just bought a house) I'll work on the car as much as possible, save money, and learn something useful.
