Default 09 Impreza exhaust question

Ok so i wanted a Tsudo N1 catback(got a small budget ) but after a little research i found out that they only made it for the hatchback. Which is a disappointment to me since i have a sedan. So i started thinking i would just get a custom exhaust and just slap a Tsudo N1 muffler on it.(hopefully getting a similar sound to this video (
) especially the idle sound and lower rev range. Knowing that the tsudo is a 3" which is to big for an NA. I read on the forums that the recommended piping diameter is 2.25" for an NA scoob but i was just wondering if i could go to say 2.5" and my real question is would it shorten the longevity of my car? Sorry if this topic has already been beaten into the ground. Im a newbie
