Dear SOA, can you bring over the Legacy DIT to the US?!?!?
It's widely believed (around Subaru chat boards anyway) that one of the reasons for the slow sales of the Legacy GT was the lack of automatic (general public doesn't seem to want manuals). Also, the GT looks were too plain for a sporty model - too much of sleeper. Americans seem to want to advertise sportiness/aggressiveness. The 2013 refresh looks slightly more aggressive, more befitting of the GT.
It's time to bring over the Legacy DIT with CVT (and manual, of course).
Since the GT was relegated to a special order item for most dealerships, the general public had no idea that they were available. None on the lot = no sales (other than the educated few). If you had planned to eliminate it, you made all the right moves to kill it: no advertising, none on the lots, higher price than 3.6R, too soft for sports car nuts, etc.
Just make it a Legacy STI and you'll create demand.
