Time for a small update.
We got a complete, comprehensive repair manual for Model A's that covers any and all maintenance that you could possibly want to do to one of these cars...all for $30.
We also found a catalog that sells EVERYTHING for these cars. Needless to say, we'll be ordering quite a few things from it. Things that our car is either missing or have worn out and need replacing. Again, we are not RESTORING the car, just getting it driveable and operational again.
Now, when we took the spare tire off, we found a weird metal "strap" coming down off of a very, very strange lug nut that was helping hold the wheel on the back. We had no idea what that was about and our local "Model A guru" guy had never seen one. While searching through our extra parts and misc items that came with the car, we found the other piece to it.
It's a lock for the spare so nobody steals it. Another very, very neat and clever piece of design.
That's all for now. I won't have another update next weekend as I'll be moving but I will keep this thread up-to-date with what happens in the coming period of time.
