soo, while it's a joke, i just want to lay to rest the thermal qualities of titanium suck for engine block purposes, and making one in a convoluted thin web would make it even worse.
i had an idea of machining a block from a strong low density open cell aluminum foam, where the block was basically impregnated with an epoxy and crushed/sealed to the right shape, where the crushing takes place, there's much more material and stronger/denser. steel oil galleys and cylinder liners pressed in, and a highish pressure cooling system forces coolant through the block foam cells at collected end plates.
