These are the same people who say they will never buy a _______ (brand name here) because they had one once and it blew up on them. If you maintain a car, it will be reliable. If you don't maintain a car, you get the point. At a shop I worked at in Seattle, we had a little old lady that brought her K car in about once every 4-6 weeks (Its a 80's dodge notorious POS for those of you who are young). Everytime, we would look it over and anything that was wrong, we would fix. Any fluid that was dirty, we would change. Most of the time, there was nothing wrong due to the frequency of her visits. Moral of the story is that this pos looked like it was brand new and had 300k miles on it. Most unreliable car ever (well, one of them) with that many miles? Preventative maintenance is exactly what it says. Pay some now, or more later. You make the call.
