That funny noise your starter made when trying to engage it while the vehicle was still moving... that's the gear in the starter trying to engage onto an already turning flywheel, NOT a good idea.
The check engine light comes on whenever you turn the key to the 'ON' position, this is a bulb check, happens in every car. When the car stalls out the ignition is left in the 'ON' position. So therefore the check engine light will be on until the ignition is turned off or vehicle is restarted. This is not a code setting.
well that makes sense, i stopped turning the key immediately when i head the grinding then waited till i came to a stop. :/
i had a feeling that was why the check engine light was on, i figured i would check though.
i will try cleaning the IACV.
i will search for a way to clean a IACV for a 02 WRX, unless someone knows a guide or maybe a video to link
