It also gets better mpg's secondary to more modern engine and transmission. However you are accepting an inferior AWD system, inferior resale value, inferior off road capabilities and inferior heritage. If you just want a vehicle to drive to work and drop the kids off at school with, sure the Santa Fe might be a more comfortable ride. All I am saying is wait a few more months until the new Forester is unveiled. The current Forester won't be around for much longer.
Anyone who would choose a vehicle of an older generation before a redesign instead of waiting deserves to buy it and take a hit if they plan to trade in. Let them be inpatient and give the dealerships more money. I'm sure a lot of people think they can survive with "just enough." ;D We usually see those people ruining it for everyone else because all-season tires are "just enough" for them to at 20 MPH below the speed limit.
