If you have an '02 with the original stock uppipe, everything on the exhaust is going to be really rusty, especially if it's been driven through the winter in the NY/NJ area. This complicates the job and can easily turn it into a huge hassle well beyond a backyard 'n' beer project. More so if the rest of the exhaust including the turbo is also original and untouched.
There's a big difference between doing this type of mod on these cars when they were new and clean, and now when they're old and rusty. Your best bet is to seek out the services of one of our local vendor shops (see the Tri-State Vendor Directory above) and let them handle it for you. If you feel the cost is too much then you may want to consider putting off modding the car until you can truly afford it.
My $.02 from a conservative perspective.
