Go to tirerack.com, enter your vehicle, pick each tire and look at the survey. There are ratings for different conditions.

If you plan on driving like a nut, you might want to look at performance winter tires. You only need studs if there is always snow on the road. They are dangerous on pavement and the **** it all up.

I don't know if it was mentioned, but you can buy tires mounted on steel wheels so you can just swap them, and you don;t have to take them somewhere to get mounted.
