One snow flake in the air = everyone goes full retard.
There will be lines to buy milk, toilet paper and white bread (don't ask, its some strange MD tradition) at every grocery store in the county, people forget how to drive, schools close immediately, gas stations will have lines 4+ cars deep, etc.
We were hit with Snowpocalypse in Feb 2010 which wasn't much fun, three back-to-back nor'easters/blizzards that dumped ~40" of snow on the area over ~10 days. After that experience, I decided it was time to move to a house with a gas fireplace and get a generator & two-stage snow blower. This past winter was extremely mild, if not down-right lame, so who knows what we'll get this year.
