THe point of my post was not to finger any one model or country that had problems. But to show the Mitsu is willing to go to these lengths to hide a known inadequacy.
I don't care if it was just their trucks or just in Japan. It scared me enough that these decisions were voluntarily made that I'd never buy a Mitsu product.
When I worked for Honda R&D, we had to cross-train on the production floor. One of the things we learn was QA and the state of many plants in the world. Near the bottom was the Corvette plant in Ky. Below that was the Mitsu/DSM plant in Illinois.
I drive crazy enough, I don't need a car failing on me in the middle of a lapping session.
