You sir, have made my day with this line. Having started racing a little over a year ago in novice, beginner leagues and building cars using trial and error, errors resulting in a spray of grass and mud off the track, i can not agree more. Weight reduction/placement and not skimping ($$$$) on tires is the best you can do. Of course in a racing application you want to upgrade pads and fluid etc, but again, it helps reduce fading, not actual stopping distance.
