You are correct however, the TMIC is not a good way to tell because the importers usually take them off and mix them up during transit. My V8 Spec-C came with a V9 TMIC that was damaged and then another V9 to replace that one. It also came with a V9 ECU.
The engine code and turbo are some of the best ways to tell.
