Damn, I set my rev limiter to 4000 RPM on my STi. It didn't help. I've been getting her into boost quite a lot. My gas mileage has been down the drain because I have to wait 5-15 minutes for her to warm up due to the inclimate weather.
That is one of the most important things I think regardless of break-in opinions is to make sure the car is warmed up. The only time I moved my car when it was just started was reverse out of driveway then first back in to move the cars.
The manual specifically says do not drive the car if it's not warmed up. I'm not a mechanic but there has to be some negative repercussions to doing that to the poor car.

Most boost I've ever seen in 2nd was 7 PSI, I wouldn't worry about it.
