I saw a completely destroyed Outback Ltd when helping a friend shop for cars a few years ago. None of the power windows worked (and the owner warned me against trying to use them because "they'll break"), only the high beams worked, only one of the head gaskets was replaced (and the receipt written on a cocktail napkin from a bar nearby the garage), neither sunroof worked, the rear seat looked like a dog had gone nuts tearing it up, brake fluid reservoir looked like motor oil, the transmission dipstick was low and it wouldn't idle.
When I started it (after a few cranks and a boost from my own Subaru) the owner informed me that he doesn't have it (a street-parked car) registered/insured so I would have to use my own insurance to take it to a nearby mechanic for inspection. He also informed me that I would be driving as a result, which is good because he didn't have a license.
We wisely decided against the car and that was before I even attempted to move it a few inches. Who knows what mysteries the braking system contained?
