But if something happens where you back your car into a tree or something on a road late at night with no help, its your choice to have the surge tank in that location where it can be destroyed and start a fire. Its unsafe to have them in the trunk period on the street, but even more so that far back. Thats why i had mine mounted like this with a firewall, and it saw limited street time.

I respectfully disagree with your opinion and believe it no more dangerous than a stock vehicle. You likely have zero actual examples to back up your statements. I have a far greater fear of a fire originating from the engine bay than from anything behind the firewall.
