I can see getting winter tires up at Park City and closer to the mountains but in the valley the snow has never been that bad and they usually pretty good at cleaning it up. Need? Probably not. I wouldn't rank them high on the necessity list. The roads do stay pretty clear in the city. Going from a high performance tire to an all season was a huge disappointment to me. Tires make a big difference, depending how you drive. I take a lot of canyon trips year round and like the way the Blizzaks handle in the snow, especially in the canyons. They also do a grand job on dry roads as well, although it does wear them out faster. I also make a lot of out state trips to areas that aren't as well plowed.
