I'd rather have a new engine than keep having to add oil every couople thousand miles. I bought the car to keep for at least a decade. When I'm done with any car, it has 200,000 or more miles and is worth very little.
I'm not at all saying that a new car isn't prefferable, only that after a year of empty promises, and a total dismissal of the issue at the corporate and dealer levels, any fix would be better than another year of the same.
I bought a NEW car to avoid these issues of constant maintenance. My 98 GMC is holding up way better than this car, and I LOATHE GM PRODUCTS.
That engine replacement in Canada wasn't the only one there, iirc. And there's a woman in cali who got a new engine. That's on a long thread about oil consumption on Edmunds.
More than one or two have been replaced!
