Checking your oil while cold is the most accurate reading u will get and there is a cold level and a hot level.
As for wiping the the dipstick off and checking it in the morning doesn't have to be done this way u can also remove the O-ring seal off the dipstick as this acts as a plunger and the oil level won't be accurate on the dipstick. The dipstick doesn't take its reading from the oil pan only from the dipstick tube.
