My issue is with the standing start. It just falls flat, sorta scary pulling out into traffic, you have to be quick across the oncoming lane around Boston and the CVT can't get it done. That is my only problem with the whole thing but for me it would be a deal breaker. The Nissan version in the Altima is not as bad standing start it is livable. Maybe they have fixed that with the latest versions.
Yeah, I was speaking from experience with the new CVT from the 2012 Impreza. The 2013 Outback/Legacy have the CVT revised and it's supposed to be a lot smoother. I HAVE driven the Outback with CVT (2011, I believe) and I agree, I wasn't impressed with the starting either.
