Depending on what type of photography you do the MK1 versions are still pretty good. Does the 7D have Micro Focus adjustments? That will help dial in each lens. Something I really wish I had on my bodies.
plan on doing potraiture, weddings,cars, engagments.. etc.. some sports too.. ive seen pics of the original mkI vrs and man those are sharp so can only imagine the increase with the revamped ones... but honestly going from a nice efs 17-55mm f2.8 which is damn good to even a mki 28-70mm is gonna be a huge jump im IQ for not much more money compared to the mkII versions...and yes the 7D does have micro adjustment for up to 20 different lens
