Rememo- that is exactly what came to mind when I learned that my car was BURNING oil, "this isn't a Vega!".
After looking under the hood, I only see a bt of residue all on the bodies of the injectors, and a light amount around the circumference of the intake cam position sensor on the drivers side.
Tapped the bugs out of my air filter, I think I'll see how a Fram or other cheapo air filter fits this time around.
Oh, and I checked my tire pressures and coolant. Its lost about an inch of coolant in 3000 miles, that's checking it hot and cold.
