If people are putting in brand new oil....why the need for an oil change sooner??? I remember on my Chevy Cavalier that did "consume some oil". I made a few trips to Florida from Ohio... nice long drive, LOL....anyways....before I left, I got new tires, oil change...and I was on my way. Everytime about in West Virginia I think I was always a certain amount of oil down and the oil was always pretty clean from what I remember.
If the oil filter is what you are concerned with, then I'll bite....but as for the oil itself, why do you need to change oil sooner that you are essentially cleaning yourself by putting in new oil or at least making it last a bit longer. Imagine you needed to refill 1 quart every 1k. So you put in 5 new quarts of oil....you just changed your oil basically.
