I usually only use the full 51 point auto focus when I'm in a pinch. I haven't had good luck with the 3D with moving objects in the past, but on the D4 it was vastly improved. The good thing is that you have a lot of single focus points now, so you have a bit more freedom in composition, especially when you're on a tripod, since you won't have to focus first then recompose as much anymore.
