My 2008 Tundra has been as reliable as an anvil and worked well beyond its "ratings". It also has many overbuilt pieces such as huge wheel bearings and a 10.5" rear axle.
My previous truck was a Ford 1/2 ton. While it is unfair to compare a newer model Tundra with an older model Ford, I used to say of my Ford (and it had a grain of truth), if a component held fluid, it also leaked it... .
I don't think that the new GM models advance The Pickup much. But it may not really matter as most buyers in this segment are as about as loyal as it gets.
