I think your use of non-ethanol gas is a big factor, in addition to your flat terrain. I wish NY didn't sell ethanol-blended gas (10%, if I'm not mistaken). There is one gas station around here that sells premium gas without ethanol. It's 50 or 60 cents more expensive than regular unleaded (with ethanol), so I've never bought it because even if I do get significantly better fuel economy, I don't think it would be enough better to make up for the cost difference.
I'm tempted to fill up there once just to see how the car does (in the name of science).
