Most of the aftermarket warranties are a total rip-off and will screw you over in the end. However, from anything I've heard about the Subaru endorsed "added security" warranty coverage, it is legit and you will be covered (as long as your vehicle isn't modified) in the event of most needed repairs. You just have to weigh the price of the extended warranty vs. how long you plan to keep the car and what the extra peace of mind is worth. Also, if you are mechnically inclined, many repairs can be done on your own for cheaper than the warranty would cost. Usually the maintenance plans don't really save you any money, especially if you change your own oil.
