Hey I was just reading over this post about the speedo sensor swap. It sounded like you had to split the tranny case in order to do the work, is that right? I just did an lgt swap and we didn't realize the issue until we had everything going back in. I have been driving around in limp mode and relying on my spacial reasoning to avoid speeding tickets. I could live without the speedo, but I cannot live with the 5000 rev limit!
In the end, it sounds like I need to split the old case, remove the shaft assembly, score another gear with 30 teeth, split the new case and instal. I hoped to avoid having to pull them apart if possible. Could you have done it without splitting the cases?
More importantly, could I? I am just looking for suggestions. I am gonna do it the right way no matter what, I just don't want to take more steps if I don't have to. I plan to take step by step pics for a later posting.
